J&K Police Recover Rs 5.50 Lakh In Online Financial Frauds, 19 Smart Phones In Bandipora

Srinagar, Jan 15: Police achieved a significant breakthrough by recovering Rs 5.50 lakh from the online fraudsters accounts and 19 smart phones in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
Police in Bandipora had received multiple complaints from the general public regarding various financial frauds, missing/stolen mobile phones and other social media crimes.
“Acting on these complaints Bandipora police achieved a significant breakthrough by recovering an amount of Rs 5.50 lakhs from the fraudsters accounts and the same was refunded to victims Bank Accounts after completion of all legal formalities”, police said on Wednesday.
Police said 19 missing/ stolen smartphones worth Rs 3 lakhs were also recovered and handed over to their owners after completion of necessary legal formalities.
“Recipients expressed their gratitude and appreciation to Bandipora police’s relentless efforts in recovering their hard earned money and mobile phones”, Police said.
Bandipora police advises the general public to use their mobile phones and other electronic media gadgets with precaution in order to safeguard themselves from cyber related frauds and crimes.
Police also urged the people if anyone becomes the victim of any Cyber related crime /Fraud he should immediately register a complaint on National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal www.cybercrime.gov.in or Call Toll Free No.1930 or nearest police unit /Cyber Crime cell DPO Bandipora.
“Citizens should report missing/stolen mobile phones on CEIR Portal online on www.ceir.gov.in , dedicated online Portal on lost /stolen mobile phones by (Dept.of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications GOI)”, Police added..
