SRINAGAR, Dec 31: Police on Tuesday said that it has swiftly solved a theft case within hours, arrested the accused and recovered stolen property in Jammu Kashmir’s Budgam district.
They said on December 29, Police Post Mouchewa received a written complaint from the Imam of Jamia Masjid Gopalpora Chadoora, Mohammad Ashraf Naik a resident of Mahu Banihal, stating therein that some unknown thieve/thieves has stolen cash from his room when he was leading Fajr (the first prayer of the day) at mosque.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No.180/2024 under Section 331(3), 305 BNS was registered at Police Station Chadoora and investigation was taken up, police said.
During the course of investigation, a police team acted promptly and used intelligence inputs to apprehend the suspects involved in the commission of crime.
Some suspects were zeroed in for questioning and one among them identified as Umar Farooq Shah a resident of Zoolwah Gopalpora confessed his involvement in the commission of crime.
The accused was arrested on spot and on his disclosure the stolen cash amounting to Rs 22,220 was recovered from his possession.
