JAMMU, Nov 26:
As many as 195 candidates today filed their papers on the last day of filing of nominations for the fourth phase of Assembly elections to be held on December 14 covering 18 constituencies spread over Srinagar, Anantnag, Shopian and Samba districts.
In Samba and Vijaypur constituencies of Jammu region, 30 candidates including two former ministers and sitting MLAs have filed their nomination papers.
Former minister and JKNPP MLA Yashpaul Kundal among 11 filed nominations from Samba constituency while former minister and NC MLA Surjit Singh Slathia among 19 filed nomination papers from Vijaypur constituency.
Mr Slathia was accompanied by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who later also addressed a public rally in Vijaypur.
In Hazratbal constituency 12 candidates filed their nominations, in Zadibal and Amirakadal constituencies 14 each, while eight candidates each in Idgah, Anantnag and Kokernag constituencies submitted their papers for the polls.
Batamaloo and Sonawar constituencies will have to elect from among 32 nominees, with 16 in each. Khanyar and Habbakadal constituencies saw 6 and 11 submissions respectively.
For Wachi constituency 10 contenders are there who submitted their nomination papers to contest fourth phase polls. Shopian constituency will see election between 11 candidates, Dooru- 10, Shangas- 9, Bijbehara- 5 and in Pahalgam constituency 7 candidates filed their nomination papers. The scrutiny of the papers would be held on November 27 and November 29 will be the last day for withdrawal of nomination papers. (AGENCIES)
