J&K Polytechnics staff meets Advisor, demands AICTE pay scales

JAMMU, Jan 9: Demanding implementation of AICTE Pay scales & Service conditions, a deputation of J&K Polytechnic colleges faculty today called on K K Sharma, Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor and apprised him about the present situation of the file no EDU/Tech/Poly/123/2015, which is pending in the department of Technical Education from a long time for one or the other reasons.
The delegation pressed to introduce AICTE Pay scales before the implementation of 7th Pay Commission in J&K w.e.f .01.04.2018 and adhere the AICTE rules and regulations. “All the Polytechnics offering diploma program in engineering & technology are governed by the rule and regulation of All India Council for Technical Education New Delhi and their recognition is mandatory for running the Diploma Engineering Programmes. The pay scale, service condition and qualification for the teacher and other academic staff in Technical Institute (Diploma) regulation 2019 have already been notified by All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi vide THE GAZETTE OF INDIA: EXTRAORDINARY (PART III-SEC. 4) ALL INDIA COUNCIL FOR TECHNICAL EDUCATION NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 1st March, 2019,” they explained.
They further said that most of the UTs/States in the country, have already implemented the AICTE pay scales for diploma level institution i.e Polytechnics. “That it is a long pending demand of faculty of Polytechnics of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to implement the AICTE pay scales. That the faculty of the Polytechnics used to be in higher scales in comparison to present scales and they have been downgraded from time to time. The position of the Principal was equivalent to Chief Engineer and many renowned and dynamic Chief Engineers of the State like G H Khan, JB Nanda etc were deputed and posted as Principal Polytechnics. The pay scale of ITI staff has already been revised by the department while in case of Polytechnic the implementation of AICTE was ignored,” they said and added that the AICTE notification of pay scales has been implemented by J&K State in case of Govt College of Engineering and Technology Jammu while the same has been ignored and turned down at that time in case of polytechnics.
The deputation comprised of Er Kuldeep Singh Bhatia, Er Sanjay Gupta, Er Zia Ul Haq Kohli, Er Tariq Amin Khanday, Er Rajiv Kohli and others.
