JAMMU, July 5: Residents of water-rich J&K are entitled to free electricity and water and we pledge to fulfill this.
This was stated by Manish Sahni, president Shiv Sena (UBT) J&K while speaking in a programme here today where he released a poster calling free electricity and water a legitimate right of the people and pledged the same for the people of J&K.
He said that people of J&K should be given at least 300 units of electricity and up to 30 thousand liters of free water per month.
The Shiv Sena leader also took cognizance of increasing power cuts and decreasing water supply in the scorching heat.
He said: “Over the years NHPC has earned crores by operating hydro-electric projects on the land of J&K but the people here are unable to overcome electricity and water crisis.”
Sahni said that even after 77 years of independence, the public has not been able to get freedom from power and water crisis.
He demanded that projects in J&K operated by NHPC should be handed over to J&K and providing electricity to Rajasthan from the Ratle Power Project is plundering of J&K resources.
Shiv Sena Women Wing president, Meenakshi Chhibber; general secretary, Vikas Bakshi; vice president, Balwant Singh; Sanjeev Kohli and others were also present on the occasion.
