J&K to seek assistance from Punjab in agriculture sector: Chib

JAMMU, Aug 12: To boost the agriculture and horticulture production in the State, the vice chairman Kissan Advisory Board Daljit Singh Chib has sought the cooperation of Punjab Government in this regard as the neighboring State has made a tremendous progress in green revolution in the country.
Mr Chib during his two days visit to Punjab met the Agriculture Minister of the State Sardar Tota Singh and discussed issues of mutual cooperation in the field of agriculture and horticulture between the two states.
The two leaders discussed various issues related to agriculture and horticulture.
Mr Chib appealed the Minister for providing technical knowhow of the modern techniques to the farmers of the State for their overall development.
The officers of agriculture Horticulture and Punjab Marketing Board who were present in the meeting assured the vice chairman to train the farmers of J&K in the forms of Jalandhar and Hoshiarpur in Punjab during the orientation courses.
Mr Chib also visited the Jalandhar and Hoshiarpur training centers. He also visited other places of Punjab to see the progress made by the State in potato production. Mr Chib announced that J&K will send its farmers to the training centers of Punjab so that the farmers of the State can learn the new techniques in agriculture and horticulture.
He said the hybrid verities of kinnow, Guava and Cauliflower grown by farmers in Punjab can also be grown in parts of J&K and the Board will work in this regard.
