J&K should take cue from Yogi’s population policy: Yudhvir

JAMMU, July 14: Impressed with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath’s proposed new population policy 2021-30 which he unveiled on Sunday, Yudhvir Sethi, vice president, BJP said that J&K should take a cue and go for a similar policy in the Union Territory to ensure population control which is prerequisite for ultimate growth and progress of any region.
In a statement issued here, today, the senior BJP leader said that Yogi Adityanath has shown the way to the country in this regard as UP State Law Commission has already prepared the draft of the Uttar Pradesh Population (Control, Stabilization, and Welfare) Bill-2021, on which UP Government has invited suggestions from public till July 19.
Yudhvir said that it is necessary to control and stabilize the population to promote sustainable development with more equitable distribution and therefore it is in the interest of people of J&K that similar initiative should soon be taken in the UT of J&K also to ensure all round development without draining of resources on account of excess population.
“According to the proposal of the new population policy in UP, parents who limit their family to only two children and are in Government service and undergoing voluntary sterilization will be given facilities like two additional increments, promotion, exemption in Government housing schemes, increasing employer contribution in PF”, he said while giving an overview of the policy.
Sethi emphasized that J&K should also pave way for adoption of similar as overpopulation is a curse and cause behind so many problems including poverty, joblessness, inflation, etc. The senior BJP leader demanded that otherwise also people should extend their contribution towards the country by going for family planning as this is significant measure to ensure sure shot development of the UTs and States.
Citing more benefits mentioned in the new population policy, Yudhvir said that there are also provisions to provide exemptions in water, electricity, house tax, home loan, and other such facilities to couples with two children who are not in Government jobs. He said that such a policy if implemented in J&K will change the course of life of people and make the Union Territory.
