SRINAGAR:  Jammu and Kashmir Speaker Kavinder Gupta and Chairman Haji Anayat Ali today appealed to both the Houses of the Legislature to maintain decorum.

Taking serious note of the objectionable behavior of some MLAs, Mr Gupta today appealed to Members to maintain dignity of the Legislature while raising their issues.

“The Members must show respect to each other, maintain highest standards of decency and dignity, discuss the public issues in a most respectable way and try to become role models for the people, who have sent them to this august House for safeguarding their interests,” said the Speaker.

Meanwhile, the Chairman also appealed the members to maintain the dignity and decorum of the upper house.

He said the members should maintain discipline and respect each other’s ideas and sentiments. He said the real essence of democracy is that the opposite ideas are respected and argued respectfully adding that members must show respect to each other, maintain high standards of democracy, discuss the public issues in most decent way and try to become role models for the society.

GN Monga expressed regret over the events that unfolded on the first day yesterday of the four day special session called to discuss Goods and Services Tax (GST). He said the members should respect each other’s view. (AGENCIES)
