JAMMU, Feb 21: Several students hailing from Rajouri, Poonch, Doda and Jammu areas, studying in Himalyan Group of Professional Institution, Kalamb (Sirmour) in Himachal, bordering Haryana have alleged harassment to them by the local goons and some insiders.
Nearly 50 odd J&K students who today staged protest dharna at the main gate of the college, told Excelsior on phone that several students were beaten up by some goons during a match. Not even this, they were facing harassment at the hands of insiders and local goons. They were terrorized and feeling insecure there. They said the college management seems to be helpless in protecting them and they have started protest today.
The students alleged that after their protest this evening, local SDM and even ASP came to them and assured protection. They demanded that J&K Government must come to their rescue and write to Himachal Government for their protection otherwise they would be forced to leave their education mid way.
