JAMMU, Mar 14: All the 440 students belonging from the State of Jammu & Kashmir, who are currently studying at CGC (Chandigarh Group of Colleges) Landran, have been giving their mid-sem exams within the college premises since the Pulwama attack which shook the nation.
The students took part in the candle march which was led by the local students and they didn’t seek any leave/ holiday. Rather, they felt safe and secure at the college premises. They were made to meet SHO, Sohana along with Capt R S Rakhra, official of CGC Landran who assured them safety and security at the hostel and campus premises.
Khan Vmair, B Tech 2nd Year student, who is a resident of Pulwama said, “I didn’t want to ruin my mid-semester exams, so I decided to stay back at the hostel rather than moving to my home place. The college authorities made sure that we were safe.”
Sheikh Fasil Ahmad, a native of Anantnag and BBA 2nd year student at CGC Landran said, “I have witnessed that the students who are pursuing their education in Kashmir are unable to complete their degrees because of the tensions prevailing there. Terrorism is a major factor which propels us to come to other States to study”.
While assuring the students of their security at the college, Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chairman, CGC Landran and Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President, CGC Landran, said that terrorism is a major hindrance in the growth of our country but today’s youth have kept all their spirits alive and we are sure that the upcoming generation has full potential to vanish it completely. There is nothing such as Kashmiri youth, they are Indian youth and their protection is our utmost duty, he added.
