J&K students leave for training courses under Special Scholarship Scheme

JAMMU, Aug 24: Two groups of 25 students one each from Rajouri and Jammu districts, under Special Scholarship Scheme for J&K students by the HRD Ministry, was flagged off for Rajasthan today.
State convener of Indian Council for Enviro-Legal Action (ICELA), J&K Chapter and former Legislator Ashok Sharma flagged off the first two batches of students, selected on merit basis for B Tech, B Pharmacy, BCA, Hotel Management and other degree level training courses.
ICELA is a coordinating agency for Pacific University at Udheypur, Rajasthan, which enrolled students for the training under the Special Scholarship Scheme.
The students belonging to J&K having 10+2 level qualification with annual income below Rs 4.5 lakh, were eligible for the said scholarship scheme, aimed at to provide free better graduate level training courses to 5000 students annually for five years by the HRD Ministry and also to instill in them patriotism, brotherhood, communal harmony for strengthening the cause of unity, integrity and sovereignty of the nation.
Earlier, these students were imparted training about their responsibilities as citizens of India towards national integration and protection of environment by the experts. For the purpose, ICELA professional students block committees were constituted for Jammu-A and Rajouri-A.
Speaking on the occasion of flagging off ceremony, Ashok Sharma urged upon the students to work for bringing the youth of J&K on the national mainstream and increase green cover by planting saplings.
