KOLKATA, July 8: A delegation of officers and representatives from Travel and Trade industry in J&K, led by Sushma Chauhan, Director Tourism, Jammu, is participating in Travel and Tourism Fair (TTF), being held from 8 to 10 July at Netaji Indoor Stadium, Kolkata.
As many as 27 State Tourism Departments/ Boards, 9 International Tourism Boards and 300 Travel agents/ Tour operators participated and showcased their tourism products and packages.
While addressing the media and Travel trade bodies, during the press conference, Sushma Chauhan said that three regions of Jammu, Kashmir & Ladakh offer diverse tourism products to the people of West Bengal ranging from traditional ones like pilgrimage, leisure and the contemporaries like Adventure, Eco, Golf, Wellness and fast emerging Border Tourism.
She said that on pilot basis, JK Tourism has started City and Border tour buses for the Amarnathji yatries, as huge response is witnessed for Border tour which is fast picking up and will be continued after the Yatra too for the facilities of the tourists. “Security and safety of the visiting tourists is of prime importance for J&K Govt and necessary steps have been taken to make the stay of tourists comfortable and memorable so that they visit us again and again” she further added.
The objective behind the participation in the event is to showcase the tourism potential of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh and to tap the international and national market including West Bengal in an enhanced and better way.
State delegation comprised of Er S K Attri, Dy Director, Publicity, Jammu and Amarjeet Singh Dy Director Enforcement, Dr Umesh Shan Assistant Director Tourism, Katra , C B Koul from J&K Tourism Development Corporation.
Travel trade put forth the demand to start new trains from Kolkota to Jammu and to increase the frequency of Himgiri Express as tourists are unable to visit J&K due to marginal supply of train tickets against the huge demand.
Inaugural day of the event witnessed huge rush and visitors showed keen interest in JK Tourism Stall duly represented by various travel trade associations from Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
