Protesting villagers lock Govt school with unsafe building

UDHAMPUR, Aug 1: Locals of village Rassain in Block Ghordi of District Udhampur locked the Government High School Rassain to register their resentment against the School Education Department, which has allegedly turned a Nelson’s eye towards extremely bad condition of the school building, already declared unsafe.
According to the villagers, the school has developed major cracks thus posing danger to the students as well as the staff members. There are three Class Rooms in the school, which are in a very poor condition with the walls and ceiling having developed cracks. The school also lacks safe drinking water facility and toilet while the unsafe building poses threat to lives of the students, explained the villagers and alleged that despite repeated pleas, no action was taken by the concerned authorities.
Meanwhile, Arti Sharma, Chairperson Block Development Council Ghordi along with BDO Ghordi, ZEPO Ghordi and other officers rushed to the spot and listened to the demands of the school students and their parents.
They assured that their genuine demand of school building would be taken up with the concerned higher authorities of the Department.
