J&K Wool producers can play great role to boost Textile Sector: Khajuria

JAMMU, Dec 17: Dr Romesh Khajuria, Chairman, Wool & Woollens Export Promotion Council(WWEPC) Ministry of Textiles, Government of India stated that wool producers of J&K can play important role in producing fine quality of wool to boost Textiles Sector of the country. Dr Khajuria said this while interacting with the representatives of wool producers FPOs of Kashmir province here in Kissan Ghar. Representatives of the FPOs were on exposure tour to Panipat, during the tour programme the FPOs visited the Panipat Wool Manufacturing Industry and the exposure tour organ by Sheep Husbandry Department Kashmir under HADP (Holistic Agriculture Development Programme) and coordinated by Wool & Woollens Export Promotion Council(WWEPC).
Dr Romesh Khajuria, while interacting with the wool producers said that Jammu & Kashmir is one of the largest producer of fine quality wool in India if HADP programme implemented in real spirit it can bring good results to benefit the wool producer farmers. Dr Khajuria further stated the Government of Jammu Kashmir should prepare the mechanism for purchasing wool from wool producer farmers and FPOs formed under HADP programme.
Dr Romesh Khajuria, who is also Chairman of Jammu Kashmir Wool Development and Marketing Association (JKWDMA) appealed the new Government to implement the HADP programme in his real spirit for its success to benefit the farmers.
Dr Majeed from Sheep Husbandry Department Kashmir along with other officials of JK UT Government led the exposure tour programme and coordinated by Vinod Kumar from WWEPC. Representatives of FPOs/wool producers present were Firdos from Pulwama, Lyaqat from Bandipora, Wani from Kulgam, Ajaj from Srinagar, Javid from Shopian, Farooq from Ganderbal, Abdul Mir from Budgam, Imran from Kupwara, Gulam Nabi from Anantnag and others.
