JKAACL holds “Meet the Eminent Contemporary” with Desh Bandhu

JAMMU, Mar 26; Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages organized “Meet the Eminent Contemporary” programme with prominent Dogri Writer Desh Bandhu Dogra Nutan today at Abhinav Theatre.
Desh Bandhu Dogra Nutan is a well-established Dogri writer who is eminent and popular among the Dogri writers’ fraternity not only in the J&K State but also at the National level.
The tregedy of 1947 tortured his young mind and he started hating religious fanaticism. Seeing the blood bath, he began to think of changing the world into a new beautiful one. He traveled across entire Dogra land from river Jamuna upto the border of Pakistan and enriched his vocabulary in Dogri. Moreover, he had travelled in the Himalayas and Shivaliks upto Nepal and studied languages musicology and folk culture.
According to him, he borrowed realism from Rishi Ved Vyasa and has knack of thinking from Adi Shankaracaharaya, these two personalities influenced him the most. Moreover European, Chinese as well as Russian literature had also a deep impact on his life.
Dr. Aziz Hajini said that JKAACL has initiated to revive most prestigious literary programe “Meet the Eminent Contemporary”. He said that Desh Bandhu Dogra Nutan have a long journey in the field of Dogri literature and contributed more than 30 books including a large number of article published in the magazine of various languages.
He further said that the “Meet the Eminent Contemporary” programme will be regular feature and  more personalities of the Jammu region who contributed their life for promotion of respective language and literature  will be felicitated  in this programme.
The writers interacted with Desh Bandhu Dogra Nutan and discussed about his contribution and creative process.
The proceeding of the programme were conducted by Dr Rattan Basotra, Assistant Editor and vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages
Desh Bandhu Dogra Nutan was also honoured on the occasion.
