BANI, June 26: Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages organized folk dances programme during  two-day Bani Lok Mela organized by Pahari Culture Manch, Bani.
Parveen Kumar Langer, Chief Engineer, NHPC, Bani, presided over,  Rajesh Basotra, SDM Bani was the chief guest,  Jeevan Lal, MLA Bani was the guest of honour and Prem Sagar Aziz, former MLA Bani was the special guest. Pawan Chouhan, president, Pahari Culture Manch, Bani and Dr Rattan Lal Basotra, Assistant Editor, Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages were also present in the presidium.
While speaking on the occasion, the SDM thanked J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) for organizing cultural performances on this auspicious occasion and said that this initiative will help to the local folk performers to showcase their talent.
Parveen Kumar Langer, in his presidential address said that  Chhinj Mela, Bani, is an annual feature since many decades and in this Mela public in thousands take part with full zeal and enthusiasm.
Jeevan Lal Lalhaal, MLA Bani while addressing the mammoth gathering expressed his happiness and gratitude towards Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and said that the folk performances presented by local folk artists of Bani on the occasion of historical Chhinj Mela organized by Pahari Cultural Manch,  Bani added more colour in this event.     Dr Rattan Lal Basotra, in his welcome address said that Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages started a series of Lok Melas in all zones of Jammu region and in Bani one more Folk Mela is scheduled to be organized in coming months.
On inaugural day, the folk parties which participated included Viduhal Khajuria and Party (Kud Dance), Bir Singh and Party(Massaday), Fazal Karim and Party (Gurai),  Yudhister Gupta and Party (Folk dance)  and  Satya Devi and Party (Folk Music and dance).
