JKAACL organizing 2-day multi- lingual conference from tomorrow

JAMMU, Feb 19: Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) is organizing a National level two-day multi lingual conference from February 21.
The conference is being organized to coincide with the International Mother Tongue Day being celebrated on February 21 across the world.
Briefing the press about this unprecedented event today here at K L Saigal Hall, Dr Aziz Hajini, Secretary, JKAACL, said, “The conference is the first of its kind where delegates from across the State and other parts of the country are participating. All the scheduled languages are getting due representation in the event in addition to the English language. Writers from such far off corners of the State like Gurez, Uri, Kargil, Leh, Rajouri and Poonch are also participating in the event”.
“The conference will begin with paying tributes to the writers who have passed away recently. Their contribution to the languages and literatures will be remembered respectfully”, Dr Hajini said. He further said the latest publications of the Academy in various languages will also be released during the conference.
He further informed that the main topic for the deliberations during the two-day conference will be ‘The current scenario of the languages of the State: Challenges and prospects’. “Writers, linguists and intellectuals will deliberate on various challenges facing the State languages and will advise on how to overcome these challenges. The papers and deliberations of the event will be documented and translated in various languages of the State and English and will be published as special issues of the Academy journals”, Dr Hajini said.
Dr Hajini added that other features of the festival will be the Book Exhibition of the Academy Publications and the performance of the local instrumentalists at Abhinav Theatre to add colour to the literary event. Mushairas and Sham-e Ghazal will be held in the evenings of the conference.
