JKAACL pays tributes to Verinder Kesar

JAMMU, Nov 3: J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) today paid tributes to noted poet of Dogri and Sahitya Akademi Awardee Late Verinder Kesar by holding a musical programme based on his ghazals.
The programme started with the ghazal of “Apne Chhalle Dasde Lok, Mere Dikhi Hasde Lok” sung by Apoorva Jamwal.
The other singers who sang the ghazals of Verinder Kesar were Suraj Singh, Vishal Gupta, Bishan Dass, Tsewang Dorjee and Nidhi Kaila. The accompanists were Yashpal Yash on harmonium, Rakesh Anand on flute, Sunil Sharma on synth, Satish Lalotra on dholak and Joginder Pal on tabla.
The programme was composed by Advocate Dogra Harish Kaila.
Earlier, Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, in his address expressed sorrow over the demise of the Verinder Kesar, who contributed a unique contribution to the Dogri Language.
While speaking about his contributions, Amn said Kesar was a great poet of Dogri and his ghazals have enriched Dogri poetry with new ideas and thoughts. He further added that the vacuum created, owing to his death, can hardly be filled in future.
ND Jamwal and Padamshree ND Sharma also spoke on the occasion and highlighted works and contributions of Kesar towards Dogri language.
Dheeraj Kesar, son of Verinder Kesar along with Padamshree ND Sharma, ND Jamwal, Dr Lalit Magotra, Dr Zahoor-ud-Din, Dr Ved Ghai, Dr Lalit Gupta, Khalid Hussain, SS Anand Lehar, Nirmal Vinod, Ajit Pal Singh Mastana, Mohan Singh and Dhian Singh paid floral  tributes to Verinder Kesar.
Anil Tickoo, junior staff artist of the Academy conducted the proceedings of the programme where as Dr Sudhir Mahajan, incharge SOCA (G-1) presented vote of thanks.
