JAMMU: Minister for Finance and Culture, Dr Haseeb Drabu, today informed the house that the proposals of J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages have been routed to the President of the Academy through the Department of Culture (DoC) for consideration and necessary orders.
Replying to a question by Zaffar Iqbal Manhas in the upper house, the Minister said, earlier, there was no need to send all the papers to President of the Academy but after the creation of Department of Culture, the Academy is required to submit proposals to the President through the Ministry for approval. He said the order to this effect has been issued by the government making it mandatory for the Academy to adopt the new procedure.
Dr Drabu said the process doesn’t affect the autonomous nature of the Academy adding that it has been declared as an autonomous corporate body by virtue of SRO 340 of 1963.
