JKAACL to celebrate Mother Tongue Day

JAMMU, Feb 19: Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) is going to celebrate International Mother Tongue day by organizing various literary and cultural programs on February 20 at Abhinav Theatre, here.
Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, JKAACL, Divisional Office, Jammu on behalf of Secretary JKAACL Munir-ul-Islam, while briefing media persons said that Mother Language Day is a worldwide annual observance to be held on February 21 to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and to promote multilingualism.
He further said that the aim of Academy is also to promote all the languages spoken in the J&K UT like Dogri, Kashmir, Urdu, Punjabi, Hindi, Gojri, Pahari, etc. In view of the Mother Tongue Day, the Academy is going to organize the various literary and cultural programmes, which include Composite Mushaira in Dogri, Kashmiri, Gojri, Punjabi and Pahari languages besides musical programs in these languages.
Dr Sudhir Mahajan Senior Drama Instructor of JKAACL while interacting with the media also disclosed that these cultural and literary programmes are being organized on February 20, 2021 at Abhinav Theatre here from 12 Noon onwards.
All the writers, artists, poets, social, cultural activists and mother tongue lovers besides the general public are invited to witness and be a part of celebrations of multi-lingualistic and cultural diversity of the J&K UT.
