JAMMU, July 1: Children Summer Workshop, which commenced on June 8 at Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) concluded today with valedictory function and inauguration of Painting Exhibition of the participating children at Police Auditorium, Gulshan Ground, here.
Simrandeep Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, was the chief guest while Aziz Hajni, secretary and Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, JKAACL were also present in the presidium.
While complimenting the functioning of the JKAACL, the chief guest said that utilizing the vacational period of students of various schools in summer is the right time to channelize the energy and hunt the hidden talent of the youth of different age groups. Such workshops provide space and platform to the budding and future artists of the region, he added.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Aziz Hajni said that JKAACL is committed to work with full devotion for the overall development, preservation and promotion of art, culture and literature being written in various languages of the State. He complimented the children who participated both in Theatre (Performing arts) and Painting workshop.
The experts who visited the Summer Workshop and demonstrated various techniques and basic exercises through their extension lectures were Sumit Sharma, Drama Instructor, Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu, Ifra Kak, Cultural Officer, Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu and Bunty cartoonist.
The painting exhibition was conducted under the supervision of STS Batra, renowned artist and former Principal, IMFA, Jammu whereas Rakesh Kona, Choreographer was heading Dance portion, Bishan Dass headed Music portion and Theatre part was supervised by Sanjeev Sharma.
Earlier, the chief guest inaugurated the painting workshop and later after the programme, he distributed certificates among the participating students of the workshop.
In the Theatre (Performing Arts) workshop, 44 children participated while 44 children took part in painting.
