JKAACL’s festival of lights concludes with ‘Mushaira’

JAMMU, Nov 10:  A two- day festival of lights which was organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages here today culminated with an impressive  multilingual `Mushaira’.
Poets of seven languages drawn from different corners presented their poetry. Pritpal Singh Betab,  a prominent Urdu writer presided and Dr  Agnishekar- a prominent Hindi writer was the chief guest.  The secretary, JKAACL,   Dr Aziz Hajini  and  Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary were also present.
Speaking on the occasion Mr Betab said that today’s `Mushaira’  based on different local languages including Gojri and Pahari, was of  high merit. He congratulated all the poets who recited their poetry on the occasion and also wished a happy Diwali to all  the artists and writers present there.
Dr Agnishekhar,  appreciated the initiative of the Academy in holding such literary and cultural programmes on the special occasions and festivals.  He said such occasions provide an opportunity to the writers and poets to sit together and have interaction with one another. He also wished a happy Diwali to all the participants.
Dr Aziz Hajni, Academy Secretary, assured the writers and artists  that the funds  will not be a constraint in the way of promotion of art, culture and languages and appealed them to join with the Academy so that programmes with new innovations and    seriousness  could be organized.
Those who recited their poems  included Gianeshwar Sharma, Ram Sanyasi,  Brij Mohan,  Promita Jamwal,  Sunil Sharma,  Bishan Dardi, Neeru Sharma,  Liaqat Jafari,   Rahat Hassain,  S Prit Pal Singh Betab,  Amin Banihali,  Sham Talib,  Bachan Bharti,  Bhupinder Singh Bhargav,   Baljit Singh Raina,  KK Shakir, Swami Antar Neeruv,   Balwinder Singh, Amar Singh Kuka, Santosh Nadaan,  AK Naz,  Khalida Parveen,  Noor Mohd Majrooh, Sheikh Zahoor,  Tanveer Iqbal Malik,  Agnishekhar, Esha Balgotra, Shyam Bihari Juneja,  Sudhir Mahajan, Kamaljeet Choudhary,  Krishan Sharma and  Dr Nirmal Vinod.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Reeta Kadyal, Assistant Editor Dogri whereas, the vote of thanks was presented by Dr Arvinder Singh Amn.
