JKAHUC demands direct Srinagar-Jeddah Hajj, Umrah flights

Srinagar, Dec 18: The Jammu Kashmir Association of Hajj &Umrah Companies (JKAHUC) today demanded direct flights from Srinagar to Jeddah to facilitate the people who are intending to go for Hajj and Umrah this season.

Addressing a press conference here, the office bearers of the JKAHUC said that due to the COVID pandemic, the Hajj and Umrah industry has suffered a lot and starting flights from Srinagar to Jeddah and Jeddah to Srinagar in the season Hajj and Umrah will not only facilitate the pilgrims but will also prove beneficial for the people associated with the industry.
“We have recently had the start of Srinagar-Sharjah flights from Srinagar International Airport, and keeping that in mind, we demand that more and more international flights should land in Srinagar and that can be done with the start of Srinagar-Jeddah and back flights during the season,” Abdul Rashid Mir of the JKAHUC said.
The JKAHUC said that despite having an international airport here, they have to carry out journeys via Delhi, Mumbai which adds to the miseries of pilgrims as well.
Concerning the new guidelines that have been issued by the Govt concerning Hajj and Umrah amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the JKAHUC said that people are in confusion even as experienced people are clueless in the wake of COVID.
“We appeal people not to fall in any trap and carefully carry out the process of their Hajj, Umrah and make sure that they let only those operators facilitate their journeys who are registered,” Pervaiz Ahmad Bhat who is the Senior Vice-Present of JKAHUC.
JKAHUC said that it has planned a unique package and experience for the people of J&K and that it is expecting that more than 100 Umrah operators will jointly be a part of it.
“We will be launching first of its kind joint package to arrange services for the Umrah aspirant of the Valley and for the convenience of people and will be publishing a list of its registered members where people can book the package and complete further formalities,” Bhat said.
