JAMMU, Mar 20: The Jammu Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) today suspended all its political activities in the wake of the guidelines issued by the health authorities to fight novel coronavirus outbreak in Jammu and Kashmir.
President JKAP, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari requested party activists to lend help to the administration in spreading awareness about proper sanitation and social-distancing guidelines.
“In view of a positive COVID-19 case in Kashmir, all JKAP meetings are hereby suspended,” a party spokesperson said here. “Colleagues and workers are requested not to hold any outreach activity for the time being. Party’s Sheikhbagh office will be only open for urgent work. People including party workers can contact 0194-2486668, 9419001440, 9419000130 in case of emergency during this period”, he added.
The JKAP spokesman further said that the political activities of the party shall remain stalled till March 31 and till then all the guidelines of the health department shall be followed in letter and spirit. “The party activities shall be resumed in accordance with new guidelines as and when issued by the health authorities,” he added.
Meanwhile, Namrita Sharma, State general secretary JKPCC and Raqeeq Ahmad Khan, State president National Students Union of India (NSUI) J&K chapter today joined JKAP in presence of Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari and various other party leaders at Jammu.
Besides, senior political activists from Congress, BJP and PDP including Vaibhav Mattoo (Congress), Janmeet Singh Bali (Congress), Gurvinder Bhatia (Congress), Ajay Kumar (Congress), Amandeep Singh (Congress), Sanju Kumar Thakur, Bharti, Ashok Kumar, Aman Anand, Sanjeev Verma, Chatarpal Singh, Raj Kumar, Gurbachan Singh, Sarnam Singh, Mohinder Singh, Gur Bachan Singh, Mohit Raina (BJP), Sat Pal Sharma, Ashesh Gupta, Gurmeet Singh, Shail Kaiser, Mohammed Yasir, Yousaf Dar, Tariq Janjuia, Happy Shah, Mohinder Bhagat, Bodh Raj Bhagat (Congress), Guni Ram, Madan Lal Chalotra (Congress), Ashok Kashyap, Romesh Kumar Chanda, Sunil Kumar, Aman Basotra, Suraj Parkash, Narinder Gupta, Gourav Mahajan, Nikki Mahajan, Abhimanyu Mahajan, Pardeep Bhagat, Shabir Kohli (Congress) and GP Singh (BJP) also joined JKAP.
Bukhari welcomed the new entrants into party fold saying that their joining will further boost the party apparatus in Jammu and Kashmir. “I hope that all new entrants will work together for the upliftment of the people in their respective areas. JKAP believes in mitigating the sufferings of people in all possible ways and manner,” Bukhari observed on the occasion.
