Excelsior Correspondent

JAMMU, June 8: The Jammu & Kashmir Agriculture Technocrats Association (JKATA) today called on K Skandan, Advisor to Governor and took up the issues of technocrats with him.
Led by Dr Surinder Radotra, the delegation apprised the Advisor of their long pending demands and issues. They demanded conduct of DPC of Agriculture Extension Assistants (AEA’s) in the Department of Agriculture in both the regions under SRO 442 in true letter and spirit.
They also demanded inclusion of 7, 8, 9 years of service in regular service with effect from Ist April 2007 with old pension benefits to all AEA’s; merger of AEA cadre and JAEO cadre in one cadre of pay grade 4280.
The JKATA sought to retain the existing ratio of 80:20 under SRO 433 to safeguard the future prospects of highly qualified (professional degree holder) Agriculture technocrats working in the Agriculture Production Department. They said revisiting 80:20 should not be considered as SRO 433 issued keeping in view of long stagnation of the feeding cadre of JAEO’s with the regularization of REZs as Agriculture Extension Assistants ,the strength of AEA’S has further swollen to 2642 approximately as such in the interest of Human Resource Development of the Agriculture Graduates working in the Non- Gazatted cadre , present SRO 433 should not be changed.
They demanded that the higher level posts from SDAO level and above are lying vacant for a long and should be fulfilled at the earliest for the smooth running of the department.
Advisor assured the delegation that their demands were genuine and will be taken up sympathetically on priority basis. He also directed the concerned authorities to look after their (AEA’s) grievances on priority mainly conduct of DPC , where 25% quota as per SRO- 442 has already been implemented.
