JAMMU, June 4: Drawing attention towards the crisis, which the Agriculture Department and its employees have been facing, Jammu Kashmir Agriculture Technocrats Association has appealed the State Government to immediately appoint most deserving candidate as new Director Agriculture Jammu as the post is lying vacant since superannuation of A K Mahotra.
The appeal was made by Dr Surinder Radotra, during a meeting of Agriculture Technocrats (VAEAs), here today under the banner of Jammu & Kashmir Agriculture Technocrats Association. He urged the State Government to consider the well -deserving, capable and visionary candidate for the post of Director Agriculture, who may be able and aggressively bring forward the department to new heights.
Radotra lamented that the department was suffering from huge crisis as no DPC has been done so far for the last 30 years while JAEOs / AEOs retired from the same post after rendering 30-35 years of service and many officers are currently holding multi-posts despite presence of technically strong experienced officers in the department. “Moreover Service – Rules of VAEA’s (Agriculture Technocrats) are still not framed / published while nothing has been done on our long pending demands such as status to B Sc Agriculture at par with pay-scale of Veterinary & Medicos, inclusion of 7, 8 & 9 years of service respectively,” he said and added that the Association discussed these demands with all the Cabinet Ministers & Bureaucrats but there was no positive outcome till date.
Radotra once again appealed Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, Deputy CM Dr Nirmal Singh, Agriculture Minister Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura and MoS Agriculture Sunil Sharma to appoint the Director Agriculture Jammu and address other issues of the Agriculture Technocrats.
