JAMMU, Feb 25: Divisional level folk song/dance and role play competitions were organised by the J&K Board of School Education (JKBOSE) under the banner of National Adolescence Education Programme & School Health & Wellness Programme under Ayushman Bharat Scheme and SDGs of G-20 Summit at SRML Model HS School, Parade, here, today.
The teams from districts Udhampur (GHSS Tikri), Samba (GGHSS Ghagwal) and Jammu ( GHSS Khanna Chargal) were declared first , second and third in Role Play Competition whereas the teams from district Udhampur (GGHS Udhampur) , Jammu (GGHSS Nowabad) & Rajouri (GHSS Seri) stood first, second and third respectively.
Prof Parikshit Singh Manhas, Chairman, J&K BOSE was the chief guest who in his inaugural address highlighted the importance of disseminating awareness among the young generation regarding the overall development of the adolescent children by providing them information and counseling . “Sustainability is all about leaving the things unaffected by human activity to ensure a safe future for posterity; this mission can best be carried forth by sensitising the youth. It is a matter of pride that India is holding G20 summit for which entire country is indebted to Prime Minister, Narender Modi. “I appreciate the endeavour of JKBOSE in organising this event in which the students across all the districts of Jammu province enthuastically participated on the themes related to G20 SDGs like poverty, gender equality, health and well being, environment, reduced inequality, marginalised groups etc”.
Dr. Sudhir Singh, Director Academics/ UT Project Director in his address highlighted the importance of extra-curricular activities especially folk songs and role of play in students’ lives that give them a food for thought when they get engrossed in performing specific themes. “The most important activities of a child’s life happen in schools, so a big responsibility lies with the teachers; it should be ensured that while preparing the students for such performances a thorough knowledge of the subject matter is achieved so that they do not only enact it but emulate too. Students can be the best ambassadors of G20 mission,” he added.
Bupinder Singh Jamwal, Cultural Officer J&K Academy of Art Culture and Languages, Vijay Chanyal Principal Government Hari Singh Higher Secondary School, Jammu and Promila Manhas, Senior Lecturer of Botany GMHSS Domana comprised the jury.
Altaf Hussain, Joint Secretary Examination, Publication and Procurement JKBOSE and Anjali Gupta Principal of the host school were present in the inaugural session.
Dr. Anuradha Sharma Academic Officer, JKBOSE proposed the formal vote of thanks.
