JAMMU, Dec 16: The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) organized UT level Role Play and Folk Dance Competition at the Government Higher Secondary School (Boys), Gandhinagar, Jammu.
Conducted under the National Population Education Programme (NPEP) and Adolescence Education Programme (AEP) and funded by NCERT, the event brought together teams from ten districts of Jammu division and ten districts from Kashmir division to showcase their creativity and cultural talent while addressing important themes such as health and well-being, personal safety, media literacy, substance abuse prevention, gender equality and environmental conservation.
Out of the total merit drawn at UT Level from divisional level competitions held at Srinagar and Jammu, GHSS Tikri, Udhampur excelled in Role play competition, PM Shri GHS Batote Ramban remained second whereas GHSS Rainawari Srinagar got third position. In Folk Dance and Drama category, GHSS Chairyai Udhampur secured the first position, GHSS Buddhi Kathua remained at second position whereas GHSS Gho Manhasa got the third prize. The winner teams were awarded cash prizes whereas all the participants were given certificates. The topper teams will participate at national level competitions to be held at Gwalior.
The event was inaugurated by Prof Parikshat Singh Manhas, Chairman JKBOSE in presence of Prof Sudhir Singh, Director Academics and UT Project Coordinator (NPEP/AEP).
In his inaugural address Prof Manhas emphasized upon the importance of creative platforms in fostering awareness and critical thinking among students.
Prof Sudhir Singh, in his address, expressed satisfaction on the efficient conduct of competitions right from school to UT level. Principal GHSS Shastri Nagar Jammu assured support in organising such programs in future. Welcome address was presented by Dr Yasir H Sirwal, Deputy Director Academics-JD.
The competition was evaluated by a panel of judges, including Promila Manhas, Senior Lecturer, GGHSS Sarore; Raj Kumar, Instructor at Institute of Music and Fine Arts, University of Jammu; and Sheikh Mohammad Haneef, a celebrated theatre artist and playwright.
Chander Sharma, Academic Officer, presented vote of thanks. Sugandh, Academic Officer, anchored the programme.
