JAMMU, Oct 12: J&K Batwal Welfare Association today appealed the Central Government to sanction ‘Special Employment Package’ for Batwal youths in view of rising unemployment within the community youth.
The issue came up for discussion during a meeting of the association held here today. The speakers said that during the year 1994, the Government of India, with an object to ameliorate the living standard of the Batwal Community, launched a study to assess their socio, economic and cultural life in J&K State.
“But even after passage of 20 years, nothing has been done by the Government for the upliftment of the Batwal Community”, they regretted and urged the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to grant a ‘Special Employment Package’ in favour of the Batwal Community on the basis of its Survey Report.
Former MLA and Association president, Sat Paul Lakhotra said that the educated youths of the Batwal community are hankering for job which is being denied to them by the recruiting agencies and without job they cannot come out of poverty they have been living in.
The association sent a fresh memorandum to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to authorize implementation of the Survey Report of Ethnographic Study of J&K Batwal community so that ‘Special Employment Package’ as urged for, is sanctioned in favour of Batwal youths to improve their economic position.
The association also sent a copy of the memorandum to the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh with an appeal to authorize special enlistment of Batwal youths in Para-Military forces functioning under his kind control.
