JAMMU, Mar 4: The Jammu and Kashmir Centre for Creative Arts (JKCCA) organised a national exhibition of paintings, drawings, and sculptures by women artists of India at the Central Hall Art Gallery of the Indian Academy of Fine Arts (IAFA), Amritsar.
The occasion, planned to coincide with the global celebration of International Women’s Day, saw Tajinder Chhina, a notable figure, gracing the event as the Chief Guest, symbolising the acknowledgment of women’s prowess in the realm of creative expression.
A statement said that Dr SP Grover, adorned with the title of Honorary General of IAFA, and Dr AK Dixit, a distinguished senior artist hailing from Delhi, were the guest of honour and special guest on the occasion.
The Founder Director of JKCCA, OP Sharma exuberantly highlighted the multifaceted essence of the exhibition, portraying it as a canvas reflecting the myriad hues of artistic trends prevalent across the vast expanse of the nation.
With 28 artists showcasing their masterpieces, including luminaries like Minu Dey and Pratima Singh, the ambiance was electric, pulsating with the creative energy exuded by the plethora of artworks on display.
In his address, Dr Grover commended the relentless efforts of JKCCA in nurturing the artistic ethos, while Dr Dixit echoed similar sentiments, underscoring the pivotal role played by such initiatives in fostering a conducive environment for the artistic expression to flourish.
OP Sharma reminisced the arduous journey embarked upon by JKCCA since its inception in 1999, under the benevolent patronage of Kewal K Sharma, culminating in a legacy of promoting art, culture, and literature.
The women artists of the country who participated in the show included Minu Dey, Pratima Singh, Prof Saroj Rani, Dr Shagufta Khanam, Dr Rekha Rani Sharma, Dr Asha Anand, Dr Rashmi Saxena, Dr Mamta Verma among others.
