JKCCTU supports PDD employees in their struggle

JAMMU, Sept 29: The Jammu and Kashmir Coordination Committee of Trade Unions (JKCCTU) have fully supported the struggling Power Development Department employees against the Government decision with regard to privatisation.
A meeting of Jammu Kashmir Coordination Committee of Trade Unions was held under the chairmanship of Mohd Maqbool, president JKCCTU here in which the speakers unanimously resolved to support the cause of struggling PDD employees against unbundling of the Department.
While speaking in the meeting, Mohd Maqbool and general secretary- Gurmeet Singh said that JKCCTU will fully support the Electric employees and workers in their cause. While explaining the disastrous results of the unbundling move of the Government they said that this decision will badly affect the service rights of thousands of employees including engineers and also cause damage to the interests of the people by way of increased tariff rate beyond the capacity of the poor families.
JKCCTU members expressed their serious concern over the shutting down of communication links especially mobile internet and curbing of democrat and trade unions rights which have added to the sufferings of the people especially the working class badly. They demanded restoration of all communication links and allow the peaceful democratic trade union activities in the State.
The speakers in the meeting warned to Govt to desists from the confrontational attitude and appealed to the employees to carry forward the struggle unitedly.
Prominent among those present in the meeting included, Subhash Chandra, M L Koul, Om Parkash, A P Singh, Surinder Kumar, Farid Ahmed, Ghulam Mohd and Bal Krishan.
