JKCL employees without salary for last 20 months

JAMMU, Nov 24: J&K Cement Employees Association (JKCEA) today alleged non-payment of their salaries for last 20 months and appealed the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to intervene personally for release of their salaries.
In a written plea to the LG Manoj Sinha, the JKCEA members said that both the manufacturing plants of JKCL at Khrew and Samba are non-functional since July 2019 due to lack of working capital for raw material, purchase and the mounting liabilities of Rs 340 crore.
They said that in last some years, inexpert MDs were deputed in JKCL from other Corporations instead of mechanical side as per the procedure of cement industry due to which JKCL has come to the verge of closure. They further resented that the CP Fund has not been deposited in the accounts of employees for last 5 years though the share of the employees stands deducted continuously.
The JKCEA members said that both in-service and retired employees of JKCL are starving due to non-payment of their dues for last about 20 months and are passing through a tough period of life. They said though Government recently deputed an MD from the mechanical field and gave assurance of Rs 50 crore financial assistance but so far not a penny has been released in favour of employees.
They regretted that while Government has deputed 177 employees of JKCL in various departments, 450 other employees of the company have been left on the mercy of God. They appealed the LG to depute the remaining employees of the company in other departments till the permanent solution of JKCL is found by the Government.
“We have no objection if Government applies the VRS scheme also, enabling us to apply for the same choicely,” the JKCEA members said and appealed the LG to take a favourable decision with no unnecessarily delay so that they can take a sigh of relief.
