JAMMU, June 16: Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Front (JKDF) has castigated Congress Party and its vice president, Rahul Gandhi, for his dubious approach to provide the relief to Doda earthquake victims.
In a statement issued here to media persons, JKDF State president, Anil Gupta said the the people of Doda are feeling dejected and humiliated as hopes were high among the victims to get the relief and financial package against the backdrop of Rahul Gandhi’s visit to the State, but except to wait in the dilapidated tents they got nothing. Even Rahul Gandhi didn’t bother to express sympathy with the victims, he added.
Gupta also pointed out that Congress Party has once again betrayed the people of Doda by taking the political mileage from the tragic incident of devastation and destruction to this hilly district of Chenab Valley, adding even the State Government of which Congress party is an ally has failed to provide the adequate humanitarian relief to the victims of earthquake.
“We strongly condemn the approach of Central and State Governments towards the sufferers of this natural calamity and demand immediate announcement of financial package and adequate relief to the people of the affected areas.”, he said.
JKDF will take every measure to ensure the victims of Doda get the adequate relief and humanitarian aid and demand the rehabilitation of all those people who have suffered heavy damages to their houses and property,” JKDF leader said.
