JKDF to strive for conversion of VDC personnel, SPOs into special task force

JAMMU, Mar 15: Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Front (JKDF) will strive for conversion of the VDC personnel and SPOs into special task force on the pattern of regular paramilitary forces for their permanent rehabilitation.
This was stated by State president of JKDF Anil Gupta while addressing public rallies at district Ramban, Batote and Ukhral village of Banihal constituency.
It is much intriguing that after the year 2004 successive Governments have adopted the anti people policies and discouraged these forces which have otherwise done a tremendous job in eliminating the militancy from this belt, he added.
Gupta pointed out that Village Defence Committees had rendered a great job in fighting the menace of terrorism, especially in the erstwhile district of Doda where this evil had assumed the grave proportion. To meet the challenge of terrorism the VDCs and SPOs had demonstrated a great spirit of patriotism and protected the people and also showed great courage and valor.
“They also extended their important role to the security forces too in their drive against highly trained and heavily armed ultras”, he added and pointed that in this drive against the terrorist, large of SPOs and VDC members had to sacrifice their lives and several of them were incapacitated too.
“Instead of recognizing the services of the members of  VDCs and also those of SPOs, they are being shabbily treated”, he alleged.
It is ridiculous that the SPOs are being appointed at just Rs 3000 per month although they are performing the equal duties with the regular force personnel. Their emoluments have not been increased despite loud promises. On the contrary, the surrendered ultras and several other who indulged in violence and anti- national activities are being given preferences. Many such elements have been recruited in the police and other belt forces, Gupta added.
