JAMMU, Apr 25: J&K Electrical Engineering Graduates Association (JKEEGA) has alleged step-motherly treatment by the State Government.
In a meeting of the Association held here today at Gladni Guest House, Narwal, Jammu, under the leadership of Harvinder Singh (president), the members assailed the State Government for providing step-motherly treatment to the Graduate engineers. It was viewed seriously in the meeting that despite the announcement of Assured Career Progression (ACP) in the budget speech of Finance Minister and subsequent repeated assurances by the DyCM, the Finance Minister and Administrative Secretaries time and again; the proposal for granting ACP to engineers was not included in 7th Pay Commission report.
This has caused great resentment among the rank and file of engineers as they feel that the Government is taking them for granted. It was also discussed that the other major issues concerning engineers have also been ignored viz-a-viz resolution of pay anomaly of Junior Engineers with Grade Pay of 4260 and revision of FTA of Rs 30 per month which cannot be justified by any stretch of imagination.
The members also condemned the callous attitude of the administrative department that the said cases are pending with the Finance Department for years together and only dust is gathering on these files without any disposal. The members were of the opinion that the Government is playing with the patience of engineers who have been pushed to the corner and are being denied what is due to them.
The meeting ended with the resolution that all engineers are united over aforementioned issues and shall not hesitate from taking any steps if these long pending genuine demands of the engineers are not addressed within shortest possible time.
