JKEEGA organizes blood donation camp for Thalassemia patients

JAMMU, May 15: Jammu and Kashmir Electrical Engineering Graduates Association (JKEEGA) as a corporate social responsibility measure collaborated with J&K Thalassemia Society and organized a blood donation camp at PDD SLDC complex Gladni, here today.
The event brought together engineers and employees from across different corporations of Power Development Department (PDD) to contribute for a lifesaving noble cause. Sachin Tickoo (president JKEEGA) was instrumental in organizing this first of its kind camp in PDD and was first among the blood donors which witnessed a great enthusiasm from female employees as well.
Senior Engineers to Chief Engineers, Superintending Engineers, Executive Engineers, AEEs, AEs, JEs and Technical and clerical staff were among those present for blood donation. It is pertinent to mention that such a camp assumes significance as one child is taking birth every hour in India who is suffering from Thalassemia.
On the occasion, Sudhir Sethi (president of J&K Thalassemia Society) informed that since blood is the only lifeline of such patients, some of whom require blood two to three times in a month also. He appealed the people in general to come forward and mitigate the sufferings of the Thalassemia patients by not only blood donation but by preventing birth of such children by creating awareness about genetic counseling and mass awareness in general on the subject.
Sachin Tickoo said that blood donation is not just an act of kindness but a supreme act a human can perform and provide lifeline to those in need. The collective action today witnessed by good turnout among PDD employees reflects the willingness of the Power Employees fraternity to work for society in all respects and each donation shall contribute to mitigate the sufferings of Thalassemia patients, he added.
