JKESL delegation meets Dulloo, projects ex servicemen issues

JAMMU, Jan 8: A delegation of J&K Ex-Services League (JKESL) today met Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo and submitted a memorandum of demands pertaining to the welfare of ex-servicemen.
During the meeting, the delegation comprising JKESL president Lt Gen Rakesh Kumar Sharma (Retired), Colonel Rajinder Singh (general secretary) and Lt Col O S Chouhan (secretary) projected and explained to the Chief Secretary the major issues affecting ex-servicemen in general and JKESL in particular.
The issues projected before the Chief Secretary include increase in J&K Government re-employment quota of ex-servicemen from 6% to 13% (akin to neighbouring states) with vertical representation, creation of Sainik Corporation or Corporation Ltd to generate employment for the ESM, long outstanding issues of Brig Rajinder Vihar and Kargil Vihar Sainik Colonies for ESM to be resolved on priority and extension of exemptions & facilities to include provision of allotment of plots ‘Free of Cost’ to Gallantry Award winners.
Issues such as exemption of property tax, exemption of stamp duty on properties up to Rs 20 lakhs and awarding of degree of graduation to ESM of J&K at par with the ESM of other states, new security strategy in J&K to include max employment of ESM in security grid, 50% of ESM in VDC/VDG, creation of ESM belt along the LoC, renewal/issue of arms licenses & appointment of security advisor and excise duty on liquor through CSD to be at par with the neighbouring States like Punjab, were also projected.
The Chief Secretary heard the issues very patiently and assured the delegation to resolve the issues in a time bound manner.
