JAMMU, July 23: The Jammu and Kashmir Freedom Fighters Association (JKFFA) today paid rich tributes to revolutionary freedom fighter Chandra Shekhar Azad on his birth anniversary in a function organised at Bal-Niketan, Ved Mandir, Ambphalla, here.
The function was organised by JKFFA president, Ved Gandotra. Floral tributes were paid to the great hero by all the participants.
The women wing president National Conference, Satwant Dogra was the chief guest on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Gandotra said that Shaheed Chander Shekhar Azad fought and jerked the base of the British rule in India with his dedication and sacrifice.
The sacrifices of the freedom fighters and the martyrs, he said, were still a ray of hope for our countrymen to follow to make an India of their Martyr’s dreams.
Participants also observed two-minute silence in the remembrance of Azad.
The children of the Bal-Niketan chanted `Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and sang National Anthem amidst waving of national flag.
The members threw light on the life of Chander Shekhar Azad and remembered his sacrifice and fight against the British rule.
He is an example for the youth of today, especially, the youth of the Valley who, being instigated by Pakistani agents, were fighting their own brothers in the police force, paramilitary and army, the members said and asked them to be strong and fight the destructive forces to strengthen the pillars of democracy and give befitting reply to the enemy.
Prominent among those, who spoke on the occasion included State president Ram Sena, Rajiv Mahajan, general secretary JKFFA Parbhat Kapahi, Brij Mehra, Veena Oberoi and Manmeet Kour.
