SAMBA, Sept 24: Jammu and Kashmir Grameen Bank (JKGB) organized a financial literacy-cum-awareness programme at village Laswara in block Bishnah, here today.
Vagish Chander Sharma, Chairman, JKGB, who was the chief guest on the occasion, inaugurated the awareness programme in an impressive function.
Speaking on the occasion, he highlighted the initiatives taken by the Bank for credit dispensation in the diversified activities for the purpose of setting up economic units for augmenting the income of the families and in turn overall development of the rural people through institutional credit. He also enlightened the gathering about Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission Scheme, which he said will soon be implemented in Jammu region by the Bank.
G M Sadiq, General Manager, JKGB, highlighted the policies and programmes of the Bank for facilitating financial inclusion programme. He also informed that the Bank has appointed a Business Corres-pondent in their village, to whom they may contact for their banking needs.
V K Sharma, Senior Manager, Microfinance and Financial Inclusion appraised the gathering about the various lending schemes of the Bank for providing credit to agriculturists, business community, transporters etc.
An amount of Rs 50, 00, 000 was disbursed on spot to the various customers in the shape of KCC/GCC, Dairy, etc. Transa-ctions through POT machine was also carried out by the Bussiness correspondent of the Village.
Ramesh Kumar, AGM, NABARD, enlightened the gathering about the importance of Financial Inclusion for the benefit of rural masses. He also informed people about the importance of farmers club and self help groups.
Representatives from Agriculture Department and Animal Husbandry Department also spoke on the occasion.
