JKGB organizes financial literacy program

KATHUA, Sept 20: J&K Grameen Bank (JKGB), Branch Haripur, in collaboration with NABARD organized a financial literacy cum awareness programme at Haripur.
District Development Manager, NABARD, Madan Lal, who was the chief guest on the occasion, explained about the importance of various bank schemes i.e., Pradhan Mantri’s  Social Security Schemes, Self Help Groups (SHG’s), Joint Liability Groups (JLG’s) and NRLM to the gathering.
He highlighted that JLGs and SHGs under NRLM are an effective credit delivery methodology for banks to reach clients like small farmers, marginal farmers, tenant farmers and also micro entrepreneurs and therefore, an important tool for poverty alleviation and social cohesion. He also distributed credit worth Rs 40 Lakh to 20 JLGs on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Ram Dev Sharma, Area Manager, Kathua and Samba Grameen Bank, made the gathering aware about benefits of schemes like (PMJJBY) Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, (PMSBY) Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and (APY) Atal Pension Yojana.
BDO Marheen, Agriculture Extension Officer Marheen, Sansar Chand (FLCC), Lalit Hans from Area Office Kathua and Sunil Choudhary, Branch Manager, Haripur were also present on the occasion.
