SRINAGAR, Oct 9: The Jammu and Kashmir Government Employees Conference (JKGEC) State president, Ishtiyaq Beigh today demanded that a sitting judge of the High Court should probe the alleged bungling going on at Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, Soura.
Addressing a press conference here this afternoon, Ishtiyaq said that SKIMS-Soura has become a hub of corruption and malpractices adding that the tide has to be stopped. He challenged the appointment of Dr. Showkat Ali Zargar as Director, SKIMS saying that Dr. Showkat’s appointment is illegal.
“Dr. Showkat worked in the gulf for six years and after his return his seniority was maintained in the Gastroenterology Department of the Institute. The purpose for which the institute was constructed has been lost and the health institution has become a den of corruption and malpractices. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah should step in and take the allegations of the corruption seriously,” said Ishtiyaq.
