JKGEWF warns hunger strike against Govt order on April 8

JAMMU, Apr 6: Expressing their grave resentment against the Government order No 9/GAD dated 26-03-2013, the Jammu Kashmir Government Employees & Workers Federation (JKGEWF) today warned to hold a day long hunger strike in front of Divisional Commissioner’s Office here on Monday (April 8) demanding immediate revocation of the order.
This was announced at a press conference jointly addressed by president of the Federation, Kulbushan Singh and its chief organiser Sushil Sudhan here today.
Terming the order on new recruitment policy totally against the interests of working class they said it is an infringement on the rights of the working class and will be fought tooth and nail.
They said why not the MLAs and Ministers are paid half salary and why the employees and warned that if the order was not scrapped immediately, the Federation will intensify the agitation.
Sushil Sudhan said the Government should uphold the policies as per the principle of social security and social justice by establishing the norm equal pay for equal work and the dues should be paid under the norm of need based minimum wages.
He said the decision to hold the hunger strike against the Government order was taken in the State Council of the Federation here which was attended by all the newly elected members. The Council said that the Federation was the only democratic and progressive movement in the state which was functioning united from Lakhanpur to Leh. It accused the Government of trying to protect the interests of corporate sector by crushing the working class.
Sudan said in the one day session it was resolved that the remaining arrears of 6th Pay Commission be released in one installment, qualifying service should be made 21 years, there should be only one union and elections of the same should be conducted by the Government and the Joint Consultative Committee be formed at Department level. It demanded dislocation allowance for employees serving in rural and far-flung areas besides payment of Medical Allowance at the rate of Rs 2000 per month and Education Allowance at the rate of Rs 3000 per month.
