SAMBA, Sept 26: A meeting was held under the banner of Jammu Kashmir Government Teachers Forum (JKGTF) in which the zonal president of the organisation, Manjeet Singh along with zonal vice president, Arjun Singh highlighted some issues of the teaching community and said that there are different pay grades of the teachers in different states and UT’s of India.
If there is one nation then why not one pay and grade, asked Manjeet Singh? He appealed the Government to fix this issue as the teachers work equally in all the states as well as UTs so equal grade pay is their right. The zonal vice president, Arjun Singh demanded restoration of “old pension scheme” .
He while addressing said that old pension scheme is the right of all the employees. Old pension scheme is necessary for old age, he added.
New pension scheme cannot fulfill the basic needs as the monthly pension through NPS is very low. All the teaching community present in the meeting appealed the authorities to solve the long pending problems.
