JAMMU, Dec 7: The Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association Jammu, (JKHBAJ) got a new body with advocate Nirmal Kotwal elected as president of the association.

Advocate Nirmal Kotwal has been elected as new president of Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association, Jammu whereas Advocate Baldev Singh has been elected as new vice president, Advocate Pardeep Majotra has been elected as new general secretary, Advocate Anshu Mahajan has been elected as joint secretary and Advocate Rahul Aggarwal has been elected as cashier of new association.

The election for the posts of office bearers of the Bar Association was held in the day and the results were declared late in the night due to time consumed in counting of votes. Total votes polled were 1904 out of 2105.
According to Sr. Advocate Vikram Sharma, former president of the Bar Association, who acted as Returning Officer, Advocate Nirmal Kotwal secured 1031 votes to win the presidential chair.
The other contenders for the post namely Sr. Advocate Abhinav Sharma, secured 446 votes, Advocate Rohit Sharma secured 318 votes, Advocate Pawan Kundal secured 61 votes and Bhavishya Sudan secured 38 votes respectively.
According to Senior Adv Vikram Sharma, former president of the Bar Association, who acted as Returning Officer, Adv Baldev Singh secured 990 votes to win the vice president post.
The other contenders for the post namely, Deepika Mahajan secured 548 votes, Advocate Daljeet Manhas secured 327 and Advocate Ashwani Kumar Banotra secured 29 votes respectively.
Advocate Pardeep Majotra was elected as general secretary by securing 749 votes.
The other contenders for the post namely Arjun Singh Pathania secured 547 votes, Advocate Himanshu Sharma secured 443 votes and Advocate Astham Hussain Bhat secured 155 votes respectively.
Advocate Anshu Mahajan emerged as winner for the post of joint secretary by securing 1215 votes whereas Advocate Rahul Sharma secured 672 votes.
Advocate Rahul Aggarwal has been elected as cashier of the Bar Association. He secured 1170 votes against his rivals namely Advocate Jameel Choudhary who secured 375 votes and Advocate Atul Sharma who secured 360 votes.
