Srinagar, Dec 23: The Jammu and Kashmir Medical Council (JKMC) today directed private clinics operating across the Union Territory to ensure that their practitioners are registered with the council before providing medical services.
In a communication issued by the JKMC President, it was highlighted that certain private establishments, including those offering clinical consultations by allopathic practitioners, are permitting unregistered individuals to practice.
“This violates established norms, breaches professional ethics, and contravenes the code of conduct,” the JKMC stated.
The directive applies to all private clinics, including single-practitioner clinics, polyclinics, infertility centers, rehabilitation centers, de-addiction clinics, hospices, domiciliary care providers, mobile clinics, medical camp service providers, voluntary service providers, and other establishments offering clinical consultations.
The JKMC has mandated that no doctor—whether from Jammu and Kashmir or elsewhere—be allowed to practice, perform procedures, surgeries, investigations, or therapies without permanent registration or additional qualification registration from the council.
Failure to comply will result in disciplinary action under the Professional Conduct, Etiquette & Ethics Regulations, 2002, JKMC said.
The Council emphasized the seriousness of this issue to safeguard human lives and urged proprietors and in-charges of clinics to strictly adhere to the directive.
“All proprietors and heads of the aforementioned clinics and centers are directed to ensure that no practitioner without proper registration is allowed to practice or perform any procedures,” the council stated.
The directive further instructs clinics to advise unregistered doctors currently practicing in J&K to apply for registration online at the official JKMC website to ensure compliance and safeguard patient safety.
