JAMMU, May 12: Jammu Kashmir Medical Employees Federation (JKMEF) today held a strong protest demonstration in support of their demands at Director Health Services complex Jammu under the chairmanship of Sushil Sudan, State president JKMEF, Jammu.
A large number of Health employees of all districts and blocks of Jammu division under the banner of JKMEF Jammu participated in the protest and shouted slogans in support of their demands. They alleged that the administrative department of health & family welfare has failed to frame rules of promotions and conduct a departmental promotion committee (promotions) of all categories in the health department, which has been pending for the last four years.
The protesting employees said several higher grade posts have been lying vacant in the Department for many years including Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar Jammu and Government Hospital Sarwal Jammu. “Many health employees have retired without getting their promotion benefits. Moreover, patients are also suffering due to shortage of staff in health institutions,” they added.
They further alleged that the administration failed to resolve the permanent salary issue of Female Multipurpose Workers and other staff getting salaries under Head -2211 Family Welfare. The salary of FMPH Workers and other staff has been pending for the last five months, and the employees and their families have been facing hardship and are on the verge of starvation, they added.
The protesting employees also urged the UT Government to register leftover Government in-service Pharmacists under the new Pharmacy Act 1948 Section 32-C, which was implemented in UT after the abrogation of Article 370. They also demanded the restoration of the old pension scheme for all UT employees on the analogy of neighboring states.
JKMEF Jammu gave 12 days ultimatum to the higher authorities of the Health Department to conduct DPC (promotion) of all categories of health employees, release salary of Head 2211 family welfare employees and resolve permanent solution of Head -2211 employees salary within the stipulated time, failing which it will go on strike/Kaam Chhore Hartal on 24-05-2022 from 10 Am to 1 PM at every Block Headquarter and District Headquarter of Jammu Division and all hospitals of Jammu Province.
