JKMF for disbanding Apex Committee on migrants

JAMMU, Feb 9: J&K Minority Forum (JKMF) has demanded immediate disbanding of Apex Committee on migrants with constitution of new Committee among migrant Pandits.
The Apex Committee members who are mostly from ruling alliance were playing with the interests of the community and they have no mandate of the displaced Pandits to represent them in any forum, JKMF president, Jawahar Lal Koul told reporters here this afternoon along with A K Koul and M L Agha other members of the Forum.
Expressing concern over delaying tactics adopted by the Government in passage of Temples and Shrines Bill, he said most of Hindu shrines in Valley are in dilapidated condition and some of them have been razed to ground. The failure of Government to constitute a Prabandhak Board for their upkeep is a cause of concern for the entire Community, he added.
He, while lashing out at the Government said the enhancement of relief to Rs 400 per soul was a cruel joke with the community and demanded that the recommendations made by the State to Central Government in this regard be implemented.
Mr Kaul said that former Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Minister, Raman Bhalla who took personnel interest in mitigating the sufferings of the Pandits as well as West Pak and PoK refugees was fighting for passage of Shrines and Temples Bill on behalf of the community and he tad taken up had issue with Union Government also.
He said it was with his personnel efforts that 1500 posts were filled up in various State Government departments under PM’s package and quarters were constructed at Kashmir for the migrant employees. But he was intentionally shifted from the Ministry to delay the passage of the Bill.
Kaul while expressing full solidarity with APMCC chief who is on fast unto death at Porbandar for last 10 days in support of KPs demands said it is unfortunate that State Government did not bother to hold talks with him or hear the APMCC representatives.
He also complimented the people of Porbandar for supporting KPs cause leading an exiled life for last 25 years.
