JKMPCL holds 19th Annual General Body Meeting

JAMMU, Aug 22: The 19th Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) of the “Jammu & Kashmir Milk Producers’ Cooperative Limited (JKMPCL)” was held at Teachers’ Bhawan, Gandhinagar, here under the chairmanship of AK Angurana, Chairman, Board of JKMPCL.
Managing Director of GCMMF Limited Jayen Mehta also attended the meeting. This AGM was also attended by Elected Board Directors of JKMPCL along with 211 Chairmen/members of Village Dairy Cooperative Societies from J&K.
The Chairman while addressing the Meeting said, JKMPCL has emerged as the apex dairy cooperative organization of J&K, empowering thousands of milk producers by supporting their livelihoods, along with ensuring consistent supply of quality milk and milk products to the consumers.
He said last year, despite disruptive situation due to eruption of Lumpy Skin Disease among the cattle, they have achieved 19% growth in sales turnover and for the first time JKMPCL crossed Rs 270 crore turnover. “JKMPCL took the timely initiative to provide more than 12.5 lakh free medicines to assist our farmer-members to contain the epidemic of Lumpy Skin Disease and salvage the farmers from heavy economic losses,” he added.
The Chairman said that during the year 2022-23, numerous training programs were organized by JKMPCL for the milk producing farmers at the ‘Northern Regional Demonstration & Training Centre’ of National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), Jalandhar in Punjab. Such programs aimed to provide valuable insights and practical knowledge to the participating farmers for improved productivity and efficiency in their dairy operations.
Jayen Mehta said that JKMPCL has become an ideal example of dairy development through cooperative model on ‘Amul Pattern’ in J&K. It is a fitting tribute to the legendary Dr Verghese Kurien, father of the white revolution, as he deeply felt that farmers of J&K should also reap benefits of dairy cooperative movement. He said JKMPCL is paying a remunerative farm gate price to the farmers which is highest at national-level.
Chief Executive Officer JKMPCL, Gaurav Sharma said that the progress of JKMPCL has been achieved due to the sincere interest of the milk producers of J&K and their commitment to make JKMPCL, a viable cooperative organization for Dairy Development in the Union Territory.
