JKNGEEA office bearers hold virtual meeting

JAMMU, Dec 22: J&K Non Gazetted Electric Employees Association (JKNGEEA) has termed the recent agreement on striking power employees and engineers’ demands with Government the victory of working class which has given a morale boost to trade union movement in the country.
The Association which met here, today termed it a historical struggle of power employees and engineers from December 17 which forced the Government to put the privatization and joint venture of JKPTCL with PGICL on hold.
The JKNGEEA also complimented the National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers (NCCEEE) and EEFI who held protest rallies and demonstrations throughout the country as solidarity with power employees and engineers of J&K. It said Shalender Dubey of All India Power Employees Federation (AIPEF) who remained in Jammu to provide morale boost to struggling employees took the movement to its logical conclusion.
The Association said the UT Government after many rounds of negotiations was forced not only to put the issue of merger on hold but formed a Committee of all stake holders including JKPEECC who can make the recommendations on way forward and assured to resolve other demands also like regularization of TDL, PDL, employees ensuring the service rights of employees after unbundling, timely salaries of employees and daily wagers, holding of time bound DPC etc.
The leaders of the Association holding meetings at district headquarters in Jammu and Kashmir termed it a historic victory in the Trade Union Movement of the UT. The virtual meeting was presided over Fareed Ahmed Mir, president of the Association and was attended by Mohammad Maqbool its general secretary, Mohammad Iqbal Dadsar, chief organiser, Gurmeet Singh, State secretary, Abdul Rashid Najar provincial president Kashmir, Zakir Hussian provincial convener Jammu and others.
