JKNM endorses BJP demand

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Mar 3 : JKNM has noted with keen interest the statement of BJP president delivered at the National Council meet at New Delhi on March 2, 2013.
JKNM strongly endorses the demand of the BJP president that the Government nominate representatives of Kashmiri Pandit IDPs and the refugees from PoJK and border areas, to the State Legislative Assembly.
I reiterates that out of a total of 111 seats of J&K Assembly, only 87 are contested and filled leaving 24 reserved for PoJK. Since there is a large number of 1947-refugees from PoK in Jammu, their representatives should be nominated against the reserved seats. Likewise, the population of Kashmiri Pandit IDPs cannot be ignored as far as their political and other rights are concerned. As such their representatives should also be nominated to the Assembly and Parliament.
JKNM further endorses the demand of the BJP National Council meet that the Government should have a clear and proper refugee policy. It reiterates its demand of composite inclusive twin city concentrated for all IDPs in the Valley.
Nomination of representatives from these groups namely Kashmir IDPs and PoJK refugees will go a long way in helping resolve their problems and larger objectives of their rehabilitation with justice and equity.
JKNM stands for the unity of the State, continuance of its multi-cultural complexion and development of all the three regions with justice and equity. This was stated in a handout issued here today.
